Environmental Policy

Thornton Precision Components Ltd. Sheffield controls the environmental impacts of its manufacture of orthopaedic, blade and aerospace components at Beulah Road, Lowther Road and Club Mill Road sites and its associated activities and services within a documented environmental management system. Raw materials used include cobalt chrome, titanium and other high quality alloys; plastic is also used in the machine shop. This system is reviewed and updated by senior management in the light of new information with a view to continual improvement of environmental performance.

Thornton Precision Components Ltd. is committed to the protection of the environment as a high priority and will endeavour to integrate environmental management into all aspects of its business operations and to comply fully with all statutory regulations relevant to its activities.

Wherever possible/practicable the company will minimise disturbance to the local and global environment and to the local community. To do this, each manager has responsibilities for environmental protection, including the achievement of acceptable standards wherever possible from suppliers and contractors.

All employees have responsibilities for environmental protection and are appropriately briefed on good environmental practice through the company-training programme.

The company will liase with statutory bodies and will endeavour to meet all regulatory and best practice requirements and will set objectives and targets to achieve continual improvement in its environmental performance. Consumption and use of utilities (gas, electric and water will be reviewed and monitored as part of the environmental management system, and regular audits take place to check the effectiveness of the management system. The management system is based on our ISO 14001 certification

We will endeavour to improve manufacturing processes, minimise waste and to conserve energy wherever possible.

A commitment to examine and where possible improve manufacturing and other activities to minimise waste at source and to reuse and recycle materials.

Reducing or eliminating wherever practicable the potential for releases which are capable of affecting the environment so preventing unnecessary pollution

Providing information on request to interested parties and wherever possible to assess in advance the environmental impact of any new development
